Club Scrap August Technique: Old Technique with a Twist

Hello, Kraftie Friends!!!

It's my turn to host the monthly Technique Challenge at Club Scrap!

I chose one of my favorite techniques…heat embossing!

It’s an oldie, but goodie technique…but not very challenging (you might be thinking!)…so let’s add a twist to it!

The challenge is to use heat embossing on dark-colored papers!

{Tue} Technique: Add Texture with Pastes

I've been a little busy lately...but had some time to play today!
Club Scrap has a June Technique Challenge - Add Texture with Pastes - and since my paste was collecting dust, I thought I would use it! =)

I used Liquitex Flexible Modeling Paste, Club Scrap Pattern Play printed paper and Club Scrap Twin Tags Honeycomb Stencil.
I trimmed 2 panels (4" x 5.25"), applied some modeling paste on and let it dry:

I used yellow dye + water and brushed it on the honeycombs.

I tore some printed paper, stamped on (Pattern Play Greeting and Jumbo unmounted stamps) and and tore the green cardstock, then adhered the pieces on the panels.

I adhered the panels on green card bases and added some Pattern Play Enamel Dots.

This month, Club Scrap's Artist Team was challenged to create projects inspired by Tricia’s May Blog hop layout - projects with ONE LAYER!

I find one-layer projects quite fun...so here's what I created, using unmounted stamps from the newest Pattern Play Collection:

Challenge:

1. Retarte #100: A Big Celebration

I started by stamping the sentiment (Pattern Play Art Nouveau unmounted stamps) in brown.
Then, I stamped background in light blue (Pattern Play Jumbo unmounted stamps) and circles in yellow (Pattern Play Art Nouveau unmounted stamps).
I decided to embellish a little, using Pattern Play Enamel Dots in white.

The card below is quite similar...

I stamped sentiment first (Pattern Play Greeting unmounted stamps).
I inked background stamp (Pattern Play Jumbo unmounted stamps) in yellow and green.
I added stamps from Pattern Play Art Nouveau unmounted stamps in light blue. And finished it off with some sequins.

You can also use a colored card base:

This time, I stamped sentiment (Pattern Play Jumbo unmounted stamps) in black.

Then, one background image (Pattern Play Jumbo unmounted stamps) in green and the other images (Pattern Play Art Nouveau unmounted stamps) in light blue.

I also added Pattern Play Enamel Dots in black.

{Tue} Technique: Stamping on the Edge 2...a CASE-d Card

Hello, Kraftie Friends!!!

Last week, I showed you how I stamped the edge of a card, using the masking technique (click HERE to see the post).

Today, I have a card with the same concept (stamping on the edge) with a little bit of cheating... =)

First, I "cheated" because I CASE-d this card...so, not my idea! If you go to The Flower Challenge #8 - CASE a DT Member - you can see which one I CASE-d...Shona's Card!

Second, I "cheated" because I didn't stamp the card and trimmed the edge...I trimmed the edge straight (almost 2 inches in), stamped flowers (Club Scrap Girlfriends unmounted stamps) on cardstock, trimmed them out and adhered them on the trimmed edge.
Well, before I arranged the flowers, I colored them with Spectrum Noir markers and added Dimensional Magic on some centers.
Then, I stamped, trimmed the sentiment (Club Scrap Adirondacks Greeting unmounted stamps) and adhered it on with foam tape.
Finally, I added some sequins.

Enjoy Your Special Day! Fancy Edge Card

Hello, Kraftie Friends!

Club Scrap has a May Technique Challenge: Stamping on the Edge linky party going on...so I decided to make one card...

The easy way to stamp on the edge is using a border stamp (Club Scrap Sunflowers Collection)...so I stamped it once (about 0.5-1 inch off the edge of the card), masked it and stamped again (overlapping a bit).
Repeat until the edge is all stamped.I had to stamp 3 times, with the stamp I used.
Then, I watercolored stripes in blue and red, splattered some blue on card, added a stamped sentiment (SU!) and some red enamel dots.

Next week, I'll have a photo tutorial on how I made this card...and others...so check back!

Alcohol Inks

Playing with Yupo Paper + Alcohol Inks

Hello, Kraftie Friends!!!

Have you tried Yupo papers yet? They are 100% recyclable, waterproof, tree-free synthetic paper...basically plastic that will hold ink!
A few months ago, I got some Yupo paper in my Club Scrap Color Me Happy Kit...and I played with it a little bit, trying to figure out what worked best...

I tried Distress Stains, but I have to retry it...didn't really turned out the way I wanted...
And, of course, I tried alcohol inks!
They work great on Yupo paper, just like they work on glossy paper!

I used yellow and blue + blending solution + white alcohol inks for the panel above.
I die cut it with STAMPlorations die and added a white ribbon before adhering the panel to the card base.
I cut a wreath using Flower Market CTMH Cricut cartridge (you can see it HERE), adhered half on the card and outlined it with green markers. Then, I adhered the other half on.
I cut out some succulents from a printed paper (Club Scrap Succulents Collection), and adhered them on card (the lighter one with foam tape).
Finally, I added some sequins.

{Tue} Technique: Digital Tea Stained Card

This card is for Club Scrap's Jan Technique Challenge - Tea Stain...click HERE to see the tutorial!
I made a 5" x 7" digital card using digital elements from various Digital Kits from Club Scrap:

I used Random Doorways Digital Kit for the background paper, Dahlia Digital Kit for overlay (I altered the colors) and frame, Boardwalk Digital Kit for paper behind cups, London Calling for stacking cups, and Postcards from Paris Digital Collection for layered postcards, tag, thread and stamps.

Masculine Christmas Cards

Hello, Kraftie Friends!

Christmas is almost here...just a few more cards to share...

These are more masculine and also, in non-traditional colors, inspired by the Dec Technique Challenge at Club Scrap:

I've used scraps from different Club Scrap Collections like Moroccan Spice and Creative License, and Metallic Pearlescent Blue paper from Woven Strands...

Dies are The Stamps Of Life (Stitched Rectangles), Big Top Pearl Stickers and Shades of Winter Dazzles Snowflakes are Club Scrap.

It's hard to see, but the card above has metallic shine on the printed papers...

Non-Traditional Christmas Cards + a Normal One

I have a few cards to share today...2 are non-traditional colors for Club Scrap December Technique Challenge (you can click HERE to check it out):

I used Club Scrap's Celebrate and Big Top printed papers, Silver Glitter (Celebrate) and Blue Pearlescent (Woven Strands) papers, and Shades of Winter Dazzles Snowflakes. Die cuts are Stitched Rectangles (The Stamps of Life).

The card below has the same supplies, except for the Blue Pearlescent paper and Dazzles Snowflakes, plus I added some Big Top Pearls and the scalloped border:

{Sun} Sweets: Club Scrap Technique Challenge LO + Sunflowers

Hello, Kraftie Friends!

Happy Grandparents' Day! =)

I'm liking the idea of working ahead...I'll meet with a childhood friend of mine (+ a couple more) in November, so I created this 2-page layout, inspired by Club Scrap's September Technique Challenge - using sketches and/or converting them to either card or scrapbook (click HERE to see it)...

I used a sketch from RetroSketches #230, that I used for a card last week (check this POST):

Challenge:

Word Art Wed #246- #247: AGoes

Of course, I flipped it to the right (for the left page) and mirror flipped it (for the right page)...I added some die cut butterflies (SU!) in addition to supplies from Club Scrap Dahlia Kit (papers, Embellishment Cutaparts, Washi Tape, Round Kraft Tags and White Jewel Dazzles).

For my next card, I used the card sketch from Club Scrap's September Technique Challenge post:

I used Garden Shed papers, ribbon and butterfly stamp (Art Nouveau unmounted stamps).
Embossed paper panel was die cut using Stitched Rectangles (The Stamps of Life). I added a flower and pearl center. I die cut the circles (Spellbinders), watercolored the butterfly and decided to use sequins instead of branches...

And just for fun...a one-layer card for a few challenges:

I visited The Sunflower Garden last weekend and I'm obsessed with sunflowers! I stamped the sentiment (Garden Shed Greeting unmounted stamps) and masked the area with a paper strip. I stamped sunflowers border along the edges of the strip, masking some flowers here and there. Then, I doodled some lines (with gold gel pen) and added Dimensional Magic Glitter Gold in sunflowers' centers.
