Hello, Kraftie Friends!

I got to scrapbook a bit today...I plan to go to a Sunflower Farm soon, so decided to create a couple of pages ahead of time!
Have you been to one before? I can't wait!

My first page was inspired by More Than Words Friends & Circles Aug Theme:

After layering the papers, I added some stamping ("friends" from Sunflowers Jumbo unmounted stamps) and some Sparkle Stickers. The square quote (Sunflowers embellishment cutapart) was matted and adhered with foam tape:


I layered some Sunflowers embellishment cutaparts and plain papers, fibers, safety pin, Sunflower Buttons and Sparkle Stickers. The collaged panel was adhered with foam tape.
I added two hand-cut sunflowers with foam tape and the title.
You can even pull out one of the Sunflowers embellishment cutaparts...just add adhesive on the top, right and bottom edges of the green mat:

The colors are inspired by Altenew's August Inspiration Challenge and the design was inspired by Happy Little Stamper's August CASE the Designer (Gloria Lee) Challenge...

I had a scallop circle die cut laying around, so I used washi tape to tape it on the die cut white panel (Stitched Rectangles/The Stamps of Life).
I used stamps from Altenew WILD HIBISCUS to create the collage with Simon Says Stamp COBBLESTONE dye ink. With the die cut still on, I blended Tsukineko Memento ANGEL PINK around it, using Ranger MINI ROUND INK BLENDING TOOL.
I also outlined the flowers with alcohol-based marker.
After I remove the die cut, I stamped sentiment (Altenew WINTER CARDINAL) with Memento ROSE BUD.
Then, I adhered on pink card base and added some sequins.

The theme this month is "Back to School"...or in my case, is "Starting School"! =)
My son N is going to kindergarten!!! Can't believe it! My little baby...

Anyway...I decided to make some handmade journals/notebooks...for the teacher and my son!
He actually likes to write down what he does sometimes, so I guess it could also work as a planner!


I used different plain and printed papers from different Club Scrap Collections (listed below).



How-To (Option 1):
1. Trim 5 sheets into 8.5" x 8.5" squares, score and fold them in half (*see tips below*).
2. For the cover, trim a sheet of printed paper into a 8 5/8" x 8 5/8", score and fold it in half.
3. With sheets open, line them up at the fold and fold them in half (signature). Add the cover.
4. Add ribbon or fiber and tie a knot on the outside. I added a bow, but that's optional.




How-To (Option 2 - using 8.5" x 11" sheets):
1. Trim 5 sheets into 8.5" x 8.5" squares, score and fold them in half (*see tips below*).
2. After you fold the sheets, trim them down to 4 1/8" x 8.5" (so it fits inside de cover)
3. For the cover, trim a sheet of printed paper into a 8.5" x 8.5", score and fold it in half.
4. With sheets open, line them up at the fold them in half (signature). Add the cover.
5. Add ribbon or fiber and tie a knot on the outside. I added a bow, but that's optional.
*Tips*
After you line up the sheets and fold them in half (signature), you'll notice that some paper is "sticking out" (compared to the first page). If you don't mind it, just leave it alone.
If you're OCD like me, and would like them to be all the same, you have 2 options:

1. With the signature folded, trim the edge with the help of a craft knife and metal ruler
or
2. With the sheets folded, trim 1 millimeter off of the second sheet of the signature. Trim 2mm off of the third sheet, 3mm off of the fourth sheet and 4mm off of the fifth sheet (but if your trimmer doesn't have the international system of units, just stick with the first option or leave it alone). =)

You could trim them beforehand and fold them in half...but I was using a score board, and...try to find the center of those crazy measurements! So, I gave up! =)

Welcome to MHKDesigns' monthly challenge!
We are sharing our creations using products from the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop (but if you don't have them yet, you still can play).
Prize is a stamp set and patterned papers collection.

I used images from With This Ring stamp set.
I printed the heart and sentiments on a panel and adhered it on colored card base. I printed the hands' image on another panel, trimmed to size, and adhered it on the first panel.
Images were colored with alcohol-based markers and colored pencils.
Finally, I added a lace trim and some pearls.
