Mixed Media {Mon}: Easy Background using Stencil + Spray (More Dahlia & Butterflies Cards)

Monday, April 11, 2016

Happy Monday, Kraftie Friends!

Saturday was snowing a bit here, but I was in the mood to create more Spring cards!

I used the newest unmounted stamp collection from Club Scrap - Dahlia:

The first one was inspired by ColourQ #336 colors:

I stamped the big Dahlia image (Club Scrap), cut it out, outlined with Fabrico marker and watercolored with All-Purpose Ink + Ink Potion no.9 (Imagine Crafts). I used Copic and a Cricut marker (I didn't have an orange marker, except for that one!) on the sentiment. I added sequins and I also watercolored the card base on the right side.

Challenges:
1. Simon Says Mon: April Showers bring May Flowers
2. ColourQ #336

To create the following cards...use stencil + spray and get 2 different looks!

First, I used Celebrate Circle Overlay Stencil (Club Scrap) and sprayed it with Color Shine Teal (Heidi Swapp) on white cardstock:

Then, on another sheet of white cardstock, I smooshed the stencil down to get a monoprint out of it:

After they dried, I trimmed the panels for the cards below:

Card #1: Stenciled Background

I just added a stamped butterfly (with Dimensional Magic and glitter) and sentiment (Stampin'Up!).

Challenges:
1. CAS Mix Up April Challenge: (my choice was the dimension on the butterfly)

Card #2: Smooshed/Monoprint Background

I added sentiment and some butterflies (Club Scrap) that were cut out, colored with Copic markers and coated with Mod Podge Dimensional Magic:

2. Happy Little Stampers April CAS Challenge: Stencil Monoprint

Your stenciled cards with the bright blue are so pretty. Great idea to get two prints from the one spray on your stencil. Both are so pretty and lovely with the butterfly embellishments. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! xx
